County Council

County Council is the budgetary authority of Allen County government. Currently, it is comprised of only Republicans. To plan for a future that works for everyone, the needs of all citizens should be considered by our elected bodies.

What You'll Do

  • Approve and review annual operating budgets for all county government offices and agencies 

  • Establish compensation for all county officials and employees

  • Fix tax rates and establish levies on all county property 

  • Appropriate public funds

County Prosecutor

Full-Time Position

Why this Matters

Prosecutors have enormous discretion in deciding who is charged, how cases proceed, and what justice looks like in practice. Their choices can uphold fairness, or contribute to injustice.

What You'll Do

  • Represent the State of Indiana in all felony and misdemeanor criminal prosecutions within Allen County 

  • Conducts criminal investigations, convenes and supervises Grand Jury proceedings, and prosecutes other crimes

County Sheriff

Full-Time Position

Why this Matters

Sheriffs are powerful, often autonomous leaders in local law enforcement. Their decisions directly affect community safety, justice, and civil rights.

What You'll Do

  • Serve as the conservator of the peace. 

  • Manage the county jail and prisoners confined in the county.

  • Administer work release programs. 

  • Serve as an officer of the court to deliver service of warrants, subpoenas, and other forms of process.

Circuit Court Clerk

Full-Time Position

Why this Matters

Circuit Court Clerks don’t just maintain records—they ensure justice is administered efficiently, accurately, and fairly. They are the unseen force that keeps the legal system functioning.

What You'll Do

  • Keep record of all judgements, orders, and decrees of the court. 

  • Certify and attest to complete transcripts of court proceedings.

  • Maintain all records of pleadings, motions, papers, evidence, and court rulings of the court.  

  • File complaints and initial pleadings in matters brought before the court and collect filing fees.

County Auditor

Full-Time Position

Why this Matters

County Auditors ensure government dollars are spent wisely and transparently. Without them, there’s a much higher risk of mismanagement, corruption, or inefficiency in local government.

What You'll Do

  • Serve as the principal financial officer in county government. 

  • Prepare tax duplicates showing the value of property and taxes assessed against each taxpayer. 

  • Distribute collected taxes to governmental units and agencies. 

  • Prepare plats showing the ownership and assessed valuation of each parcel of land in the county.

County Recorder

Full-Time Position

Why this Matters

County Recorders protect property rights, support public trust, and maintain the legal and historical records that keep local government and civil society functioning. Without them, there’d be no reliable way to track ownership or prove legal claims.

What You'll Do

  • Maintain permanent public records involving real estate, personal property, mortgages, liens, leases, and subdivisions

  • Maintain and preserve all legal documents affecting title to real property 

  • Serve on the county commission on public records

County Assessor

Full-Time Position

Why this Matters

County Assessors matter because they ensure property taxes are based on fair, consistent valuations, which directly impact community funding and equity. Their work supports public services, legal processes, and the real estate economy.

What You'll Do

  • Certify assessed values to the county auditor 

  • Serve as secretary of the county property tax board of appeals 

  • Equalize assessments in the county

Township Trustee

Full-Time Position

Why this Matters

Township Trustees matter because they handle the nuts-and-bolts of local governance that directly affects residents’ daily lives. Their decisions shape public safety, infrastructure, land use, and how your local tax dollars are spent.

What You'll Do

  • Serve as the chief executive of the township 

  • Manage the finances of the township 

  • Administer township assistance 

  • Maintain township records

Township Board Member

Township Board Members play a quiet but powerful role. If you care about roads, taxes, local services, or how your community develops, then you should care about who sits on your Township Board.
